Sound

Anonymous

"We sometimes encounter people, even perfect strangers, who begin to interest us at first sight, somehow suddenly, all at once, before a word has been spoken."

My thing is crowds. Not standing in line or anything like that but just a crowded restaurant or park makes me feel comfortable. I couldn't figure out what the appeal of so many strangers was until it came to me yesterday. It's the anonymity of a crowd. People are there, but not asking a million of personal questions.
In a related note, a stranger on the train in NY showed me a ziploc baggie of his son's teeth that he carried around in a harmonica case.

Eating In Trees

New treehouse restaurant in New Zealand. What I want to know is, how do people get up there?

How Do You Feel?

This site: ifeelLondon is a great idea. It classifies things you should do in London according to how you feel. I love it!
There's a New York section as well..... just another reason to move there!
I would add a few more sections though.
Like "I feel relaxed" or "I feel like drinking heavily".

Cheap Monday

I love skinny jeans now. It took me months to decide that it was okay for a 5'4 girl to wear them but I have since jumped in completely and have bought around 3 pair, ok 5. Cheap Mondays are my favorite, so when they came out with these I went to try them on immediately.
Once I stopped laughing at myself in the dressing room for being such a poser, I took them off and gave them back to the fitting room person. I circled the Cheap Monday table for another 15 minutes before grabbing the same pair and trying them on again in another color. I cannot decide whether I can pull these off or not yet.

Tellin' Time

These watches are awesome, minus the fact that I highly doubt that I could ever figure out what time is it on it. Courtesy of our Japanese friends.

I Didn't Even Know I Missed the 90's

but at the gym I ended up watching VH1's top 90's Songs . Completely amazing show. Since then Marcy Playground's Sex and Candy has been stuck in my head.
Now it can be stuck in yours....

Humidifier in the shape of Stitch... what else could one ask for?

Good Date Movies List

Since I have not been dating anyone very seriously lately, I think it's fun / a form of torture to watch great date movies by myself. Along with Wife Swap and Intervention, hot, French movies are one of my favorite genres. Here they are, hopefully your dating life is better than mine.

The Dreamers
Lila Says - French
Swimming Pool
Vicky Cristina Barcelona

These are good by yourself:

Bonjour Tristesse
Dangerous Beaty

New Toshiba Site

I'm a MAC girl all the way but the new Toshiba site is awesome.

Things I want to wear to work but won't

Seriously?

I hate to post about celebrities, but come on.....
If Jessica Simpson, or anyone else, wants lips like that I volunteer myself to punch them in the mouth until said results are delivered and I only charge $100.
On a side note. I have NEVER seen this look good on ANYONE. How can celebrities and rich chicks everywhere still be doing this?

Wildcat

Thanks for the intro Pete!

Sharpie Design

This guy decorated his basement completely with Sharpie. Wow.

Caprese Salad Saved My Dinner

Since most of my cooking adventures usually end up with me making a huge mess, calling my mom, and then giving up and getting a turtle sundae, I was appropriately frightened to cook dinner for some friends last night. Here's my solution: buy a lasagna from somewhere that makes awesome food. Make the easiest salad on the planet (Caprese Salad) and take credit for all of it.

Nothing Says Happy Holidays Like Heroin

I was watching a double episode of Intervention last night and after one of the commercial breaks something wonderful came on. Apparently, Intervention is available for purchase in a box set. They didn't come right out and say it but you know that they wanted to say this: "Makes a great gift at the Holidays." It's the perfect gift for that person who has everything. I can guarantee that they don't have the box set of Intervention.
Is it just me or is there a major difference between catching an episode on TV (or DVR'ing it.... whatever) and actually OWNING the box set and popping in the DVD intentionally?

I Can't Take My Eyes Off You

I am one of those people that gets something in my mind and proceeds to talk about it / think about it/ must have it / cannot do anything until I get it / have dreams about it / look on the internet for it until I can pretty much relate this item to any conversation I might find myself in. Fun for me, less so for friends like Gabrielle.
It can be an item of clothing, a donut covered in sugar, mascara, a pillow, a language, a boy, a DJ, a bartender, a coat from Anthropologie, a certain kind of drink, a blog. It's a problem.
Here's today's...

Silk

I got bored enough to watch a movie called "Silk" this weekend. While I thought I would watch it halfway while doing laundry, it actually has really beautiful landscapes that make the movie worth watching. Warning: it will definitely make you want to travel which I already do so now my workweek will probably partially consist of me pricing plane tickets to Japan.

Because it's Japanese

and as everyone well knows, I will buy almost anything that looks or is Japanese. Here's a site that you should check out that has 51 characters to explain lots of different cultural phenomena in Japan. I don't quite get it, but I still like it.

The Frenchness

I can't read it but I love it. French Vogue makes me want a French friend. We could ride bikes and wear Valentino. Link

Hey Mikey! He Likes It!

So I'm sitting around with a few people the other night and someone announces that he knows "a list of things that all girls like". Obviously, I want to hear what the list is. He tells me this strange list of things some of which I like and some I don't. What do you think?

1) Ranch Dressing
2) Dry Cereal
3) Guacamole
4) Tequila

Personally, I like cereal enough to be a list in and of itself.... it's a longstanding dream of mine to have a cereal bar either in my house or at the office.

Honey Bee

I had forgotten how much I love Lucinda Williams until I heard her new CD Little Honey this morning. It's the same great Lucinda as always, I had been worried that it wouldn't be so great since she fell in love and became.... well.... happy. You know what happiness can do to a songwriter.
If you check out 2 tracks, they should be:
Honey Bee
If Wishes Were Horses

If you love anything about Lucinda, it should be:
her shameless drunkenness
her boots

by Alfred Kubin.
"Experience has shown, and a true philosophy will always show, that a vast, perhaps the larger portion of the truth arises from the seemingly irrelevant." Edgar Allen Poe

What's Scarier?

Lots happening over the weekend but I did, of course, make some time to watch TV and happened to catch A&E's top scary movie moments. I completely agreed with all of them (The Shining, Carrie, Texas Chainsaw Massacre) and then came the top 3.
Jaws and Alien were 1 and 2 while The Exorcist was number 3. There is probably something wrong with the list makers over there because there is NO WAY that Jaws is the scariest movie moment. No possible way.
That said, who gets to make those lists and where do I apply? I think I would do a great job in the list making arts.
